Mackenzie is 3!

Our big 3 year old!

It seems like your birthday took so long to come around this year because we have been talking about it since the end of March.  With Mema, Nana and myself having birthdays you were just wanting to have your own! You knew how to answer correct how old you were going to be and could hold up that many fingers to prove it :)

Daddy surprised you and me with a day & night downtown together just the 3 of us.  It was a special gift of time together.  Birthdays (especially yours and your sisters) are special.  I am reminded of the LIFE that God so generously gave to you and what a gift that is to your Daddy and I.  You see, before you were born we did not for a period of time if we could have babies and oh how thankful we are that we could!

Big Girl Bed!!!!  We are so proud of you for no longer sleeping in a crib.  Your in the crib with one side off to make it a big girl bed.  This was an easier transition than we thought!  For a few days you said you did not like it (and sometimes do) but have never gotten out in the middle of the night or had a major melt down.  We did this in March just before you were 3 and I think that helped you fully understand the rules - you also are pretty routine with your bed and don't like to break those rules.

Potty Trained!!!! You also have been potty trained for about 3 weeks!  One day you just seemed interested so we ran with it. You had 2 accidents in those first days but have really started to understand the whole process.  You did get treats for the first week and thankfully those have scaled back haha! Too much chocolate is not good for nap and bedtime :) You were a pull up at nap and bedtime and the Dr said NO rush at all!  Its something you cannot control and your body will help you over the years to do that :) Plus your body produces a LOT at night so I think it might be awhile ;) Anyways....

You have been napping this past month again from 12:30-2 about an hour and a half each day.  For a while about 3 months you did not nap at all and had quiet time.  I think playing outside has bene helping! I am thankful that even when you do not nap you stay in your room for 1.5 hours and listen well to the quiet rule.  This really helps mommy to have some time when both you and your sister are a sleep so thank you!

You are in bed between 7:15-7:45 each night and your clock turns green at 7am and you come out on your own which is still surprising sometimes :)

You are SO excited to have a party with your FRIENDS.  You are entering the stage where you love to have "little" friends around and really are seeking friendship and socially you love it! You are still learning to share and be kind.  I think its the hardest for you when you get frustrated QUICK (usually by things that are "off" such as your shoe coming off or someone doing something you do not like).  We are working on using more words and letting mommy or daddy know right away so we can walk you through the emotions.

This past year you ended Gymboree when they closed and have done a few classes here and there but for the most party have been with mommy.  One class you did was music at the park district that you really liked!  You have done 2 classes of music/story time at the Library with Mema and Barbara!  You really enjoyed these!!! You come with mommy each week to her bible study and you get to go play with friends - you seem to like craft time and gym! On Sunday you do a great job at church too!  So we have a balance of being in the home with Abby :) and out at classes just for you!

What did you do on your birthday?:  The day before your birthday we went downtown.  When we got down there you noticed the buildings and had fun pointing some out the rest of the day.  We went to Maggie Daley Park and you liked exploring but not for too long.  You got a bit tired and they playgrounds were kinda big! So we decided to head to the hotel and have some down time before dinner.  After we rested and had a snack (yummy pretzels, apple juice and strawberries) we walked to the Disney Store!  You were a bit shell shocked ;) The stuffed animals seemed to be what you looked at the most.  You colored there and we told you to pick out a present and one for Abby of course.  You picked the most random things so we had to guide you to the toys we knew you would like (frozen and Doc).  After the store we headed up Michigan Ave to the Hancock.  We ate in the signature room on the 95th floor.  You were pretty silly at dinner and Im sure this si the first time you actually watched a show on the phone to keep you from being "done!" But you sure did like your dessert! On your birthday morning we had a slow morning, you ate a waffle for breakfast (of course) and then we headed over to Sprinkles Cupcakes!  We all enjoyed that! Afterwards we went to the Children's Museum and played until it was time to head home :)
